For immediate release: November 8, 2021
It is with deep gratitude and appreciation for everyone at DV LEAP (Domestic Violence Legal Empowerment and Appeals Project) that I announce my departure from the organization, effective December 1, 2021. Sasha Drobnick, our intrepid Legal Director, will serve as Interim Executive Director. Her 10 years on staff, leadership prowess, and strong commitment to DV LEAP’s mission, will make for a seamless transition.
It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside such dedicated, exceptional, staff, consultants, board directors, and supporters, in service to survivors of domestic violence. DV LEAP’s dramatic growth in size, infrastructure, clients, and trainings over the past four-and-a-half years is further manifestation of DV LEAP Founder Professor Joan Meier’s vision to increase access to justice and strengthen legal protection for survivors through appellate advocacy. It has been my honor to build on her inspiring legacy.
To the courageous survivors who come to DV LEAP for assistance, I extend immense gratitude for both trusting us and the privilege of providing you with our legal services. To the hundreds of pro bono attorneys who take on our appeals, I salute you for the legal puissance you bring to bear on every case. Of course, none of this life-saving advocacy would be possible without the critical financial support of our donors and funders. Thank you for putting your values into action for DV LEAP.
As I transition to my new role, Executive Director of No Means No Worldwide, I leave a talented team in place and an organization poised for bold opportunities. Sasha Drobnick, Lizzy Vogel, and Flora Patel form the mighty heart of DV LEAP. Their awe-inspiring determination to pursue justice, improve domestic violence laws, and advance racial equity, make them a force for survivors - and all that’s good in the world. I am fortunate to have worked alongside such phenomenal women to fulfill DV LEAP’s mission.
DV LEAP’s Board of Directors have provided me with guidance, grace, and endless support, even for unique initiatives like DV LEAF. They model how an effective board functions by stepping up, leaning in, and generously giving back to the organization. With heart-felt appreciation, I thank this accomplished group of individuals for their keen stewardship and contributions to my leadership growth.
Thank you for an extraordinary experience and the opportunity to serve as DV LEAP’s Executive Director. Keep showing up for each other. Only together can we create peaceful communities free from violence.
