Symposium on Domestic Violence Law & Policy

Custody & Abuse Litigation and The Supreme Court

Throughout the country, battered mothers and children have been subjected to unjust court processes that have violated their most basic due process rights and resulted in abusive fathers gaining custody of their children.

The Symposium brought together leading Supreme Court scholars and litigators with expert domestic violence and child custody lawyers to create a set of best practices for bringing these due process violations for redress to the United States Supreme Court.

Symposium Agenda

  • Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) delivered the opening keynote address on Friday, December 7th.
  • December 7th focused on the problems in family court and is open to the public.
  • December 8th, for attorneys and invited guests, was a working program for Supreme Court litigators and dv/custody lawyers.
