Susan Hoffman

Board Chair

Susan is Public Service Counsel at Crowell & Moring.  She was the first attorney in the D.C. area to become a Public Service Counsel in a major law firm.  She is widely regarded as the leading pro bono counsel in the area.  She provides extensive assistance to DV LEAP with regard to fundraising with law firms, pro bono relationships, and case placement.

Anne Spielberg

Treasurer

Anne is a partner at Harmon, Curran, Spielberg & Eisenberg, a prominent public interest law firm which works with many non-profit organizations.  She provides extensive advice and assistance to DV LEAP regarding institutional development, fiscal sponsorship, structuring of financial transactions, and budget approval.

Tim Waters

Board Member

Tim is the Managing Attorney of McDermott, Will & Emery. He is an expert in antitrust and trade regulation and a member of the firm’s Trial Department.  He works extensively with investment bankers, corporations and trade and professional associations.  In addition to extensive corporate and trial experience he also has substantial appellate experience before U.S. Courts of Appeals.  Mr. Waters served on the Board of Trustees for the University of San Francisco for nine years.  He is leading DV LEAP’s Board expansion efforts, including outreach to leading members of the corporate and legal professions.

Alexia Morrison

Board Member

Alexia spent eight of her twenty-six years of litigation with the US Attorneys Office in DC, serving as chief of both Felony Trial and Grand Jury; four years as Chief Litigation Counsel at the SEC; and thirteen years with a firm.  In 1986 she was appointed Independent Counsel and successfully argued the constitutionality of the Ethics in Government Act before the US Supreme Court.  She received a 1985 Presidential Rank Award for her federal service and a 1998 Award for Outstanding Lawyering from NYU's Brennan Center for Justice.  She has been a Trustee of George Washington University, Chair of The Children's Law Center in DC, and now sits on the board of the Rappahannock Non-Profit Center.  Ms. Morrison left active law practice in 1998 to pursue her interests in nonprofit work to benefit children, teaching, and mediation.  She is playing a central role in DV LEAP’s board expansion, strategic planning, and development efforts.

Marcus Scott

Board Member

Marcus D. Scott, Phd. is CEO of Metamorphosis Media, a Washington DC based media, production and management firm.  Metamorphosis Media is dedicated to facilitating organizational progress through objective analysis, creative media production and common sense marketing strategies for organizational change and advancement.  Two things have marked Marcus’ career, both in the public and private sectors: 1) his ability to transform complex messages into a simple big idea; and, 2) his total respect for the consumer.  “If you focus on what they want, you can engage and motivate them.”  Marcus is an award winning entrepreneur and social justice advocate.  He has been recognized for working in a range of areas locally, nationally and internationally, including fostering unlearning racism across generations, advancing youth civic participation, expanding international human rights protections, and rethinking corporate diversity and inclusion.  Marcus has been a member of numerous nonprofit boards of directors worldwide, and he currently sits on a number of other Washington DC local boards, including, Academy of Hope (AoH), Mosaica: The Center for Nonprofit Development and Pluralism, and Howard University Television’s (WHUT) Community Advisory Board.

Joseph Getch

Board Member

Joseph serves as Chief Financial Officer for PRS, Inc.  Established in 1963, PRS provides community-based psychiatric rehabilitation, including day support, residential and employment services to consumers in recovery from mental illness.  He previously spent six years with First Nations Development Institute – three years as the organization’s Chief Development Officer and three years as Chief Operating Officer.  Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer for the Benton Foundation, and spent nearly six years with The Hitachi Foundation, where he also served as Chief Financial Officer.  Joseph has served on the Boards of several other non-profit organizations, including the Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault, an organization providing direct support services to victims of sexual assault and their families.  He is leading a review and strengthening of DV LEAP’s financial management and accounting practices.

Mary M. O’Connor

Board Member

Mary is the Vice President of Development for The Conservation Fund. She is a highly experienced fundraiser and development expert and has extensive experience working with non-profits.  She is leading DV LEAP’s expanded development efforts. 

Erin Currier

Board Member

Erin Currier is Vice President for Programs and Policy for Women Work! The National Network for Women's Employment, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to women's economic equality and security. She designs, implements, and evaluates Women Work!'s grant projects in collaboration with state and local partners; oversees Women Work!'s public policy efforts; conducts research on women's employment and training issues; and contributes to the organization's strategic planning and development activities. She also serves as Treasurer on the Board of Survivors and Advocates for Empowerment (SAFE), a D.C. organization that provides advocacy services and crisis intervention to domestic violence survivors. Erin has a master's degree in Women's Studies and Public Policy from George Washington University.  While completing her degree, she worked closely with DV LEAP's founder to help launch the organization in its first year.  Erin is  helping to lead DV LEAP's strategic planning efforts.
